BIOGRAPHY Mario Mendoza Aizpuru (born December 26, 1950) is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) infielder. Mendoza, a lifetime .215 hitter, is best known as being the source of the name for the threshold for batting aptitude, the "Mendoza Line", meaning a batting average of .200.
