Biography Cecil Edward Espy (born January 20, 1963 in San Diego, California) is a former professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues, primarily as an outfielder, in 1983 and 1987-1993. Espy was a first-round pick of the Chicago White Sox in the 1980 amateur draft, the eighth player chosen, ahead of such other first-round picks as Terry Francona and Billy Beane. He was traded in the spring of 1982 to the Los Angeles Dodgers for outfielder Rudy Law.
